[Geurie Gravel – Sat 16 May 2026 9am – Central West Cycle Trail](https://centralwestcycletrail.com.au/geurie-gravel-sat-16-may-2026-9am/)
This time of year brings foggy mornings, stunning sunrises & anywhere with the mighty Bald Hall in the background is a beaut picture.
Commonly known as the “Monks Head”, Bald Hill is a very special local landmark.
Do you know anything about the volcano that once stood nearby?
Geology, deep alluvial flood plains & interesting rocks speak of ancient stories.

Back roads around Geurie…. Magic time of year for a slow country drive. Dirt roads & blue skies & wide open plans.
When was the last time you had an old fashioned family drive & popped into @mitchell_inn_geurie … enjoy a counter lunch (kids menu is awesome) & drive home via Mount Arthur on the River Road, or via the Zoo on the Benolong Road.
Memories can be made on back roads, when weekends allow time to slow down a bit.

Celebrating the gorgeous attributes of living in Geurie. This reel from @bobberryrealestatedubbo shares a rare glimpse into the perspective of living in Geurie from a real estate agent.
3 vacant blocks left for sale in the Bald Hill Estate.
The fog there continues… glorious @jacintahaycock_artist is open for all Mothers Day gifts!

Exquisite capture of a bygone era in Geurie. The stories this building could share.
The old “saloon”, and billiards hall. Glorious pressed tin ceiling & original features.

Near Wellington is our district
It is Ponto you know.
Set in fertile valley
Waters of the Macquarie flow.
Chorus:
Here’s to Ponto, Here’s to Ponto
The district we adore
It is fertile, it has beauty
Let it flourish evermore.
In the summertime though it’s so hot
You can swim where there’s a breeze
In the cool waters of the Macquarie
Fringed by graceful willow trees.
Chorus
In the winter it is so cold
Snow white frosts everywhere
But there’s always a bright log fire
To cheer and welcome you.
Chorus
Baby woolly lambs in the Springtime
Dot green paddocks everywhere
Later on they are shorn
For the woolclip we all share.
Chorus
All around us we can see
Touching bright skys with blue
Tall hills and ranges where Oxley travelled through.
Chorus
Baby woolly lambs in the Springtime
Dot green paddocks everywhere
Later on they are shorn
For the woolclip we all share.
Chorus
All around us we can see
Touching bright skys with blue
Tall hills and ranges where Oxley travelled.”
(Lyrics written by the late Mrs. Peggy Jackson. The photo of Mrs Jackson and these lyrics were discovered in an old reference book at Wellington Library. Mrs Jackson was a teacher in charge at The Old Ponto School (situated near the modern day intersection of Terrabella Road & Arthurville Road, some 4.5km from the CBD of Geurie Village).
